More Than a Book — A Practical, Interactive Resource

The app is designed to be more than simply another way to read the book. It transforms selected tables, equations, and reference materials into interactive tools, allowing readers to enter patient-specific information, perform calculations, and explore clinical concepts without leaving the application.

Like the printed and e-book editions, the app is intended for trained anesthesia professionals, offering practical techniques, unconventional solutions, and clinical perspectives developed over more than 30 years of independent practice. It is not intended to replace clinical judgment or serve as a substitute for established medical references.

Why an Interactive App?

Modern technology offers opportunities to make a reference book considerably more useful. Rather than simply reading an equation or consulting a table, readers can interact directly with the information.

The app is planned to include a variety of features designed to make the material more accessible and useful in everyday practice:

Interactive Calculators: Enter relevant values to perform calculations such as medication infusion rates, remaining oxygen cylinder time, body mass index, pediatric endotracheal tube sizes, and maximum local anesthetic doses.
Interactive Tables and Spreadsheets: Replace selected static tables with tools that allow readers to enter values and obtain results appropriate to their particular circumstances.
Arterial Blood Gas Interpretation: Enter laboratory values into an interactive module that analyzes acid-base disturbances, evaluates expected compensation, and helps identify possible mixed disorders.
Videos and Illustrations: View demonstrations of selected techniques and procedures directly within the application, providing a visual complement to the written descriptions.
Convenient Navigation: Move quickly between chapters, illustrations, calculations, and references through an interactive table of contents, internal hyperlinks, and searchable text.
External References: Follow links to relevant medical literature and other resources when an internet connection is available.

These features are intended to complement the written material, not replace it. The underlying emphasis remains on practical experience, sound clinical judgment, and finding efficient solutions to everyday problems.

A Reference That Can Evolve

Unlike a traditional printed book, an application can be updated as new techniques, information, and useful tools become available.

The app format offers the opportunity to expand the material over time, refine existing features, and incorporate additional interactive resources without requiring readers to purchase an entirely new edition.

Availability

The interactive app is currently in the planning and development stages, with the goal of supporting smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers across major operating systems.

Details regarding supported platforms, features, pricing, and availability will be provided as development progresses.
